1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Curse It ("Curse It," "we," "our," or "us") processes information when you use the Curse It mobile application, this website, and related support services.
The short version: Curse It does not require a public profile. Raw audio and verbatim transcripts are not stored in the Curse It database. Saving a structured private ritual summary is optional and deletable.
Curse It is designed for adults as an entertainment and general-wellbeing experience. It is not a medical, mental-health, diagnostic, treatment, or crisis service.
2. Information we process
Anonymous installation and service information
We use an installation identifier to provide the first free ritual, maintain purchased session credits, restore permanent entitlements, prevent duplicate purchase processing, apply reasonable limits, and associate requests with the correct installation. We may process app version, operating-system information, request timestamps, error codes, and service latency.
Ritual setup and usage
To operate a ritual, we process the selected category, self-reported intensity, chosen Ritual Room, session state, meaningful burst count, derived intensity level, effects used, and completion state. We collect only allowlisted product events and bounded values. Analytics are designed to reject audio, transcripts, entered text, aliases, names, email addresses, phone numbers, targets, and URLs.
3. Voice and text input
If you use voice input, the app records a short clip and securely transmits it to the Curse It service. The service sends the clip to the configured speech-processing provider to produce a temporary transcript and usage metadata. We use the temporary transcript together with acoustic signals and duration to determine whether the input is meaningful, estimate a response level, and route safety-sensitive content.
Curse It does not store the raw audio or verbatim transcript in its database. The service processes them in memory for the current request and returns the result to the app. If you use text input, the text is processed for the same ritual and safety purposes and is not stored as a verbatim content record.
Our production disclosures will identify the speech provider used for the released build. That provider may process the clip under its own data-processing terms as our service provider. We require providers to protect data consistently with our instructions and applicable agreements.
4. Optional private Archive and campaigns
After a ritual, you may choose to save a structured summary. If you do, the Archive can store:
- ritual category and selected next need;
- derived intensity, peak level, burst count, and duration;
- chosen room and effects;
- before-and-after self-reported intensity;
- an optional private campaign alias that you enter.
The Archive does not contain raw audio or a verbatim transcript. Aliases are screened to reject phone-like strings, email addresses, and URLs. Archive items can be deleted individually or cleared together.
5. Purchases
Apple processes in-app purchases. We receive transaction and entitlement information needed to verify a purchase, grant session credits or permanent scene access, prevent duplicate processing, provide support, and measure verified purchase totals. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
6. Safety processing
Input may be classified for credible threats, hateful targeting, child targeting, identity attacks, or self-harm risk. High-risk input does not increase ritual damage and may cause the app to pause its entertainment response and present a safer path. We record the derived safety category, not the verbatim content, for product integrity and aggregate operations.
7. How we use information
We use information to provide rituals, verify purchases, maintain entitlements, apply cooldowns and anti-abuse limits, show optional private archives, diagnose errors, measure product reliability, understand aggregate conversion and completion, improve safety, and respond to support requests.
We do not sell your ritual content. We do not create public target profiles, send your input to the person on your mind, or use your exact words to create an advertising profile.
8. Retention
- Raw audio and verbatim transcripts: not stored in the Curse It database after the request is processed.
- Optional Archive: retained until you delete the item, clear the Archive, or request deletion.
- Purchase and entitlement records: retained as needed to provide credits, permanent access, fraud prevention, accounting, and legal compliance.
- Operational and aggregate events: retained only as long as reasonably needed for product operation, security, analytics, and legal obligations.
- Support emails: retained while necessary to resolve the request and maintain an appropriate support record.
9. Sharing and service providers
We share information only as needed with service providers supporting speech processing, hosting, security, error monitoring, customer support, and Apple purchase verification; when required by law; or to protect users, our service, and others from fraud or credible harm. Providers are permitted to process information only for the services they provide to us and under applicable contractual safeguards.
10. International processing and security
Information may be processed in countries other than your own. We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including encrypted transport and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your choices and rights
You can deny microphone access and use text input, decline to save a ritual, delete Archive items, clear the Archive, or stop using the app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, or to receive a portable copy of certain information.
See Data Deletion for in-app deletion steps and how to contact us. We may need to verify that a request relates to your installation before acting on it.
12. Children
Curse It is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Do not enter information about children or use the service to target a minor. If we learn that we processed a child's personal information contrary to applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the product, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version here and change the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app.
14. Contact
A working contact for privacy questions and requests will be published on the Support page before the public app launches. This website does not currently accept privacy requests. Please do not submit recordings, transcripts, real names, targets, or other sensitive ritual content.
